For which children is school assistance intended?
School assistance supports students who need help in their daily school life due to a physical, intellectual or socio-emotional impairment.

Support is possible at all types of schools – from primary school to vocational training – and helps ensure that your child can attend school inclusively and close to home.
WHAT DOES A SCHOOL ASSISTANT DO IN DAILY SCHOOL LIFE?

Our school assistants support your child wherever help is needed – during lessons, in the schoolyard and on all routes around the school.

  • Support and guidance to participate in classroom activities
  • Assistance with self-organisation (materials, schedules, homework)
  • Orientation support within the school building, on the schoolyard and in the classroom
  • Supervision during breaks and lunchtime
  • Support during excursions, project days and school activities
  • Assistance in crisis or risk situations
  • Basic medical support as part of routine care (e.g., diabetes, allergies – as individually agreed)
  • Help with basic personal care tasks, e.g., using the toilet or changing incontinence material

SUPPORT THAT REASSURES – PEACE OF MIND FOR PARENTS

When your child receives proper support, they can develop their potential more effectively.

At the same time, you as parents know:
There is someone at your child’s side in everyday school life – someone who supports, strengthens and can react quickly in an emergency.
Who covers the costs?
As a rule, the costs for school assistance are covered by the responsible social welfare provider (Youth Welfare Office).

To do this, you submit an informal application to the Youth Welfare Office.
We are happy to support you in planning the next steps and answering your questions.

What does “informal application” mean?
A short written request to the Youth Welfare Office is often sufficient.
It is important to describe your child’s need for support.
