Our Whistleblower Protection ActThis is a law that protects people who report problems.
Since December 17, 2021, all companies in Germany with between 50 and 249 employees must have a place where such problems can be reported — by December 17, 2023 at the latest.
The law helps to identify and stop misconduct and rule violations.
It is important that the person who reports a problem is protected and does not face any negative consequences for doing so.
When someone reports a problem, they remain anonymous — this means that no one knows who made the report.
Nevertheless, communication with the office handling the report is possible.
This law applies not only to employees but also to volunteers, interns, consultants, managers, and shareholders.
When a problem is reported, feedback is provided within 7 to 90 days.
Why is this good?Improvements:When employees report a problem, the company can take steps to improve.
Avoiding scandals:If the company handles issues correctly, there will be no unpleasant surprises when problems become known.
Good reputation:If a company can show that it has not received complaints for a long time, it reflects well — it shows that the company takes problems seriously and resolves them.
